Welcome to Davidson for the 2025/2026 School year
Hello Davidson Families,
The staff and I are excited to welcome our students and families back to Davidson Middle School for the 2025-2026 school year. The first day of classes is on Wednesday, August 20th. You can view the School district calendar for the full year’s schedule on our district WEB site at SRCS.org.
The school day begins at 9:00 AM and ends at 3:25 PM. Students should arrive after 8:30 AM, not before. Wednesday is our early release day, ending at 1:58, matching the San Rafael elementary schools’ early release schedules. Please note that the first day of school is on a Wednesday, and will end at 1:58 PM. Our daily bell schedule can be found on our WEB site Davidson Middle School. We are constantly updating our main page with the information families need, including a calendar feature at the bottom of the page that highlights events specific to Davidson Middle school.
Finally, families often ask what they need to purchase in preparation for the school year. As a public school, Davidson provides everything your family will need to attend school. You do not need to purchase anything. Students should already have their district issued laptop, or will receive one when school begins later this month.
New Staff at Davidson Middle School
Davidson had several retirements last year, along with the usual changeover that occurs annually. We met some outstanding teacher candidates this spring, and made an excellent group of hires for the upcoming school year. Please join me in welcoming to our staff:
Ms. Catlin Wong: Counselor 7th grade
Mr. Ted Tolks, and Ms. Maria Del Castillo: PE
Mr. Nick Andress: CORE
Mr. Jeff Brandt; English Language Development
Ms. Sarah Hunter and Mr. Cooper Brown: English Language Arts
Mr. Richard Kidickel and Mr. Peter Bowman: Social Studies
Ms. Kati Zacharias: Math
Ms Sofia Fulgoni: Science
We’re very excited about this year’s additions to the staff! Three of our new hires are Davidson Alumni, and we’re excited about the energy, experience, and excitement all of them brought to our interviews.
Important Upcoming Events
On Wednesday, August 13th, Davidson will be hosting our Welcome Back to School Parent Information Meeting for our Spanish speaking families. We’ll also host a similar meeting for English-speaking families on Thursday, August 14th. Both meetings will be online from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm. Please look for more information from Ms. Estela Merida-Godfrey about the topics we’ll cover to help families start out the year. The meeting will be virtual and can be accessed via Zoom; she will send out the link via Parent Square.
For our 6th grade students, Camp Cougar will be held on Thursday, August 14th. If you have an incoming 6th grader, you will want them to join us at this event, although attendance is not required. Students will learn about the campus and where their classes are, as well as meet staff and new friends from other San Rafael City Schools. 6th Grade students will also receive a hard copy of their schedule at Camp Cougar.
If the student's last name starts in A-L, the camp runs from 9:00 to 10:15.
Last names starting in M-Z should arrive at 10:45 and plan to finish at noon.
During Camp Cougar, the principal will be available to speak with incoming parents about the upcoming school year and answer any questions families have about Davidson.
All students and families should be able to access their schedules through their online Aeries app starting August 19th. On Monday, August 18th, families that want a hard copy of their schedule can get it in front of the main office between 10:00 and 12:00.
Please note that the campus is closed on August 18th and 19th because our staff will be involved in professional development for the upcoming year. If you want to come get a schedule please make sure you are not entering the gates and wandering the campus.
Important Information
If you have not yet checked your Aeries online portal, please do so. San Rafael City Schools uses Aeries for all documents that are required to attend our public schools. If your Aeries Portal is not working our family liaisons can help ensure you are connected. Families who are not able to connect to their Aeries account can learn about it at our parent information nights on August 13th (Spanish) and 14th (English) speakers.
I hope everyone enjoys the last few days of summer break, and we look forward to seeing everyone on August 20th for our first day of classes.
Best,
Michael Stachon - Principal Davidson Middle School
