Principal's Message:

This week Davidson began hosting our lunch clubs sponsored by the PTO.  Lunch clubs are a great place for students to make new friendships with kids that have the same interest or passion, and every year we see many new friendships formed in those classrooms.  Kids also enjoy having a space during lunch to engage in something they enjoy doing, providing a mental break from their classes and academic workload.

My favorite part of our Lunch Club program is the relationships formed between our teachers and students.  Lunch clubs provide a space for teachers to build a relationship with students that goes beyond the teacher student dynamic.  It has a big impact on school climate because a student that is in their “Club Leaders” class works harder, and is more focused on learning.  It also helps in the hallways and on the yard when a teacher gives a reminder about behavior.  Coming from a strange adult you have no connection with lands very differently than coming from an adult you choose to spend time with every week.

You can see all the fun lunch club options we have at Davidson in the picture above.  Students hear about lunch clubs on the morning announcements, but you should take a few minutes to talk to your child about the lunch clubs offerings and see if they may find a new space, and make some new friendships at lunch one day next week.

Important Information

The Honor Roll Assembly for last Spring has been scheduled for Friday September 19th.  Friday’s don’t impact a block day and are least disruptive to instruction.  This year 7th graders will be recognized at 9:05 in the morning, and 8th graders will be at 3:00 in the afternoon.  The ceremony should last about 30 minutes.  6th graders don’t have a ceremony because they were still in elementary school last Spring.

Please help our office team with student pickup rules.  ONLY ADULTS on the Emergency List can pick up your child at school.  Siblings under 18 may not pick up their brother or sister.  If you wish to update your emergency contacts you must come to school in person to make those changes.

Thank you to our new SSC parents Eufenia Rodriguez and Lili Figueroa.  They will serve a two year term and work with members of our parent community and staff to support Title Initiatives at Davidson Middle School.

Starting on Monday students who are riding Class II EBikes will get calls home to pick up the bike.  Students in Marin under 16 should not be riding Class II Ebikes.  TO learn more about what a Class II EBike is, and other information from Marin county you can find it HERE.

7th and 8th grade students have the opportunity to join Crossroads, an academic support and enrichment program in partnership with Marin Academy.  The program is on Mondays 4:15–5:15 PM and Tuesdays 3:35–4:35 PM.  Students will receive an enrichment course and tutoring from Marin Academy students.  The program runs from late September through the end of May, and participating students must commit to both the Monday enrichment class and Tuesday tutoring. If your child is interested, please have them connect with their grade-level counselor to apply.

Library News: Books that are checked out from the library are due after two weeks. Overdue reminders are sent automatically to emails attached to the student's Aeries account. If you receive an email notification, just know it is just a reminder that the book is due.
